AMAZING STAY!!!!!!

What an amazing trip and stay we had at Elk Haven. Kris and Beth were more than accommodating and the cabins were great. We absolutely loved the firepit and the hiking right out our back door. There was always wildlife around. This is an awesome place for adults and kids and we will definitely return

We had a great time ! I’m an avid hunter. There was 10 to 15 deer in front lawn every day. Great place clean. Thanks Kris and Beth ! Brought grandkids with they explored and had fun !

Loved our stay!

We stayed two nights and attended the annual Buffalo Roundup in Custer State Park. The cabin was nice and felt like home. Beds are very comfortable. Snow in September brought Kris to our deck to clear off snow! The deer were in abundance and we saw them being fed at the house across the street. Close to Custer but very private. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed our stay

We stayed the week of the Buffalo Run. We enjoyed the quietness and nature surrounding. Everyday we saw deer by the cabin. The Cabin Was very clean, the kitchen was and stocked with anything we would need for cooking, and there were plenty of towls. It was very peaceful and quiet and very pretty when it snowed. The only things would change would be a bit firmer bed, it was comfortable, but soft. The pillows were very comfortable. The furniture was nice and in very good condition, but not to comfortable when unwinding from a long day. Would like to have had a couch or recliner, or ottoman with one of the chairs.

Peaceful surroundings & wel

Our family had a great time at Elk Haven. The cabin had a well stocked kitchen (pots, dishes, silverware) and bathroom (towels, hair dryer, toilet paper). Our daughter loved climbing up into the woods behind the cabin and exploring with her cousin. We also saw the neighbor across the street hand feeding the deer, so naturally they deer came every morning - that was cool to see!

Great Place

Great place to stay! Clean and had everything we needed. So much better than staying in a hotel. Loved being able to have some of the comforts of home. Owners were very friendly!

Cabins during Sturgis bike week

Came through for Sturgis from Virginia Beach on our motorcycles. My friend turned 50 and always wanted to cross the US on his bike...I was the tour guide. We only stayed one night as we were passing through the area. We were the only bikes at the time of our visit. The cabins are not far from all the Sturgis events (1.5 hour ride no matter which route you take from Buffalo Chip early or later in the day; if you wait until all the bikes are out it'll likely take longer). We took our time, stopped a few places and did the Mount Rushmore loop on the way to the cabins from Buffalo Chip and still got there around 4pm. Like many tributarry roads in the west, Little Italy is a gravel road but we had no issue getting to the cabin on our bikes (road is an easy incline to the cabins and no switchbacks or anything like that). The great thing about this location is its very close to a lot of the great loops (needles highway, wildlife loop, Mount Rushmore etc) which with a 9am stands up, you can get to and through many of these loops with little traffic (we could actually ride at posted speeds which was much more fun than brake checking all day). The owner was on site and was very nice, had a brief conversation and let us know if we needed anything to give a call. The cabins are very nice, loaded with most of the ammenities anyone would want/need (wifi, cable, pillows, sheets, towels, coffee, even a small tray of ice, etc..). If you should need something the town is only 5 minutes. No need for A/C as the weather is usually cool enough and does have a ceiling fan to circulate the air if the wind is not blowing. We did find out there is a laundry facility in town, based on the reviews folks can drop off/pick up making an ideal scenario for folks like us with only a few days of clothes on the bikes (we were unable to use this facility but would have had I known about it in advance). Very comfortable, peaceful, quiet area, with deer grazing early and late in the day. Great place for anyone visiting the area.

Great home base!

My family of 5 (3 young boys - 9,7,4) stayed in the cabin and loved it! The cabin was well off the main road and very private. We loved having the space to run around and explore the hillside behind the cabin. Also, having a kitchen was a HUGE plus for us. Our youngest has Celiac (gluten allergy), so to have a place to make meals was important. I would highly recommend.
